Cecilia Collantes is a Peruvian interdisciplinary artist living between in NYC and Paris.
Intervened found objects, performance and powder pigments fixed on folded paper and canvas create the artist universe. Collantes artwork, relate to the concepts of time, transformation, and ritual expression, directly linked to the artist's Peruvian roots and their relationship to contemporary culture.

Collantes oeuvre on paper is often folded to artistically and geometrically enhance the dimensionality of the work. The artist refers to the use of powder (or dust) as a primordial material, an earthly and cosmic medium that humans and the universe share in a micro-macro relationship. Placing a commentary on the transformation of all matter, the artist expresses her desires to fix volatile elements as a metaphor of the undeniable impermanence of human condition.

Cecilia Collantes, born in Lima,  received her education in Fine Arts and Contemporary Dance at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, University of the Arts Berlin, Danza Viva Contemporary Dance school in Lima, and the Traditional Arts Institute in Surakarta, Indonesia.

Her painting and performance works have been shown in Lima, New York, Jakarta, Bangkok, and Berlin. Solo shows include “Liberty, Femina, Keluarga” at Biasa Art Space (Jakarta) , “Foresta” at Undercurrent Projects (NYC) and “Apparel” at Cecilia Gonzalez Gallery (Lima).
